Cynthia Peterson

Executive Vice President of the Broward County Medical Association

Ms. Peterson has served in Fort Lauderdale since 1990. She directs and coordinates all programs and major activities of the 1500 physician membership association to include their Foundation and Political Action Committee. Prior to her position as Vice President of the Broward County Medical Association, Ms. Peterson was the Executive Director of the Indian River County Medical Society in Vero Beach, Florida.

Ms. Peterson has served and continues to serve on the Boards of several community organizations: Board Member, MediVan Health & Community Services (1990-2008); Board Member, Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County (1990-2007); United Way Campaign Cabinet, (2004-2007); Leadership Broward Foundation Board, (1996-2002); Broward County Comprehensive School Health Advisory Committee, (1990-present); Board, Broward Healthy Start Coalition, Inc., (1992-2004); Board, United Way Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, (2001-present); Advisory Board, Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center, (2004-2009); Advisory Board, South Area, American Lung Association of the SE, Inc. (2003 – present); Board of Directors, American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc., (2007-present); Honorary Board Member, Special Olympics of Broward County, (2000-present); Affiliate Member, American Medical Association (1996-present).

Ms. Peterson also holds the following honors: Outstanding Board Member, South Area, American Lung Association of Florida, 2006; March of Dimes Woman of Distinction, 2001; American Diabetes Valor Award, 2001; Special Recognition Award, Broward County Health Department, 2000; Outstanding Health Service Leader, Institute of Health Policy, Nova Southeastern University, 1996.
